Residential life in Clarence Center, NY

If you are a social butterfly, you will participate in everything. If you are one who enjoys an hour or so of activity per day, you will pick and choose your activities wisely. If you prefer keeping to yourself, we may find you reading a book in our beautiful green room.

Our residents stay as busy as they want to be. We offer exercise classes 6 days per week. This activity is free and open daily to the public. What a great way to get out of your apartment, get moving, and keep your physical therapist happy! Each day offers something a little different. Every class focuses on strength and toning, as well as flexibility. You do what you can!! A chair is always within reach. You may stand or sit while participating, and it is always acceptable to stop by just to watch. Check our weekly newsletter for dates and time.

The Book Bunch meets once a month in the parlor. A resident volunteers to read a book, and prepares a report to present to the group. Family and friends are always invited to the monthly session. Sometimes our guests enjoy presenting books too!

Lunch bunch on Wednesdays, and use information from Patti about charity events

On Saturday mornings our lecture group meets at the T.V. in the activities area. Presently they are working on Understanding Greek and Roman Technology. Other recent topics of interest have been The Life and Work of Mark Twain, The Roots of Human Behavior, Experiencing America, The World's Greatest Churches, just to list a few! This is a wonderful way to keep our minds working. After each lecture the group follows up with a few minutes of discussion.

Our Lunch Bunch goes out once or twice a month on Wednesday. A destination is chosen and we go. For instance, over the summer we traveled into Buffalo to eat at The British Chippy and ater lunch we toured the inner and outer harbor, Larkinville, and stopped by Mazurek's Bakery in the Old First Ward. Our van fits 10 residents, if interested you sign up and pay your own way for lunch and goodies. We have travelled to Lockport, Lackawanna, Orchard Park, East Aurora, and even just down the road to get a slice of pizza. It is all about getting out and enjoying the ride!

Bible Study Tuesday afternoons

A non-denominational Bible Study group meets on Tuesday mornings. New residents, old residents, friends, and family are encouraged to join the group. We learn something new every time we read the Bible!

The ROMEOs (retired old men eating out) and the JULIETs (just us ladies idly enjoying talk) look forward to going out to dinner on a monthly basis. This coming month the ladies will be going to the Gate House Grill. Sometimes we make it as easy as Friendly's. Oh…how we like the ice cream sundaes for dessert! Last month the men and the women ended up at Brennan's together. Of course we sat on opposite sides of the restaurant!

Thursday is movie day. A movie is selected each week and shown on the big screen T.V. in the activities area. If you have a favorite, please make a suggestion!

We love to play games too! There are the Bridge players, the Canasta players, the Board Game players, the Wii Bowling players, the Trivia players, the Adult Pencil Art players, and the Bingo players. Have any been missed??

There are monthly luncheon parties too. Most are themed. These parties are for the residents as well as the public. Our chefs prepare a delicious meal for us, and special entertainment is provided. Can you think of a better way to spend an afternoon?? Our reservations fill up fast, so please plan to call in advance if you do not live here and would like to attend.

Seasonal crafting is always fun too, you never know what we may create. We have spent hours on paper mache bowls, fun and friendly Easter Bunnies, handsome Tom Turkeys. This coming month we are planning to make elves to sit on our shelves!

We have so many other events that happen here at Vinecoft too.
We must always read the weekly newsletter!
